Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the church located?
On the 'Point' at 69 Silver Street in Waterville, Maine. (Please note that the Mailing Address is PO Box 435, Waterville, ME 04903-0435)
Where can I park?
There is parking at the front and back of the church. You may also park on Silver Street or Elm Street on Sunday mornings.
Through which door should I enter?
You are welcome to enter through the front double doors or through the lower Silver Street side entrance, both of which are open by 9:45 am. The front entrance leads directly into the sanctuary where the Sunday Worship Service is held. The lower entrance on Silver Street is wheelchair accessible and leads to Averill Parlors (downstairs), where the Coffee Hour is held, and to the kitchen (which hosts the Evening Sandwich Program). There is also a wheelchair lift that can be accessed from outside (by prior arrangement) on the Elm Street side of the church, and from Averill Parlors for transport to and from the sanctuary.
How early can I arrive?
Doors open at 9:45 am and Sunday Worship Service starts at 10 am. You are welcome to come early, introduce yourself, and enjoy some quiet time before the service begins. In July and August, a Coffee Hour is held at 10 am in Averill Parlors (downstairs) in lieu of a service.
What can I expect during Worship Service?
You can participate in the Worship Service by joining in the hymn singing and recitations of readings, or just sit back and take it all in. There are no expectations in terms of level of participation for visitors. We are pleased that you are joining us!
How long does the service last?
Worship service lasts about an hour. In non-pandemic times, it is followed by a Coffee Hour where all are welcome to gather over refreshments (when on site) for good conversation and fellowship. On occasion we have a Second Hour program.
What is the Second Hour Program?
Periodically we have a speaker, group, or presentation that occurs after or during Coffee Hour to address special concerns or topics that go beyond the Sunday service.
What programming is available for my children on Sunday morning?
When services are on site, children join the congregation for the beginning of the church service for about 15 minutes before going to Religious Exploration classes.
If my child isn't ready to leave me, can they stay with me during the service?
Yes. There is an area in the back of the sanctuary where there are comfortable chairs and quiet activities for children.
Is the church wheelchair accessible?
Yes. There is a lift on the Elm Street side, and the entrance on the Silver Street side is wheelchair accessible. For more information, email our administrative director.
What is the Mid-Week update?
Our weekly update is an email that informs members and friends of the upcoming week's service and other gatherings, news about our members and friends, community activities of interest, and classified ads submitted by members and friends. If you would like to receive the Mid-Week Update or submit an item to be included, please email our administrative director.
How can I donate to the church?

How did the church adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic?
Sunday services were not held in person, on site after March 8th, 2020 until May 22, 2022. From March 15th through June 28th, 2020, services were pre-recorded; those recordings are available for viewing via the "Online Sunday Service Archive" on the "Worship Menu." Then Sunday services (and the Coffee Hour which follows) were held via Zoom. As of May, 2022, "multi-platform" services began in the church with a Zoom option. Please see our Home page for connection instructions. As of September, 2024, most meetings, such as the monthly Board Meeting, weekly Arts & Crafts, Tuesday Discussion Group, Thursday Men's Group, and Friday Women's Group are being held in person. People are free to mask if they feel the need and masks are available in the church entry way.
